The following describes the procedure for joining
Our fiscal year runs from September to August and we renew all of our members concurrently in August. Fiscal Year 2009-2010 dues are $195. We revise and reprint our Visitor Guide (which includes our membership listings) annually in the fall with distribution beginning in January each year. The 2009 Visitor Guide has been printed so you would not be in the 2009 guide. Your membership would be extended to August 2010 to compensate for the fact that you wouldn’t be in the printed visitor guide until 2010. All the other benefits of membership will be activated IMMEDIATELY after we receive your dues and the membership form. These benefits include referrals to your business which will begin immediately; your marketing materials can be displayed in our Visitor Center (to which more than 9,000 people visit each year) and you can begin attending our membership events including monthly breakfast meetings with speakers and evening social mixers approximately 9 times per year.
Additionally, your business will be included at no additional fee on our website and will include many membership benefits including the ability for you to change your listing, post press releases and survey visitors to your site. Only members can advertise their businesses in our newsletter which you will receive monthly, in the Visitor Guide and purchase a listing in the Lewes Map which we also produce annually (in the spring). Networking at our monthly meetings and mixers is another excellent way to promote your business.
We have actively partnered with the City of Lewes in two programs – the Blue Wave Campaign promoting clean beaches and the Lewes in Bloom beautification program. Our Chamber is taking an active lead in working with our state government as they investigate insurance reform particularly as it relates to small business owners. We participated in the DelDOT/ Sussex County government initiative to tie future land-use to transportation and have seats on the Sussex County Bicycle Safety committee and the Greater Lewes Foundation.
