March 27th, 2024 - 2:00 pm

CANALETTO & THE ART OF VENICE

Wednesday, March 27 at 2:00 pm and Saturday, March 30 at 6:00 pm

Canaletto & the Art of Venice is an immersive journey into the life and art of Venice’s famous view-painter. No artist better captures the essence and allure of the city than Giovanni Antonio Canal, better known as Canaletto.

The film offers the chance to step inside two official royal residences – Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle – to learn more about the artist, and Joseph Smith, the man who introduced Canaletto to Britain.

Viewers will embark on their very own 21st century Grand Tour, visiting the sites enjoyed by their 18th century counterparts and immortalized in Canaletto’s views – from the Rialto Bridge to the Piazza San Marco, and the Palazzo Ducale to the Church of Santi Giovanni e Paolo. The film is an opportunity to get closer to Canaletto and the city that inspired him. [2017, US, Runtime: 87 min, Not Rated]

Admission is $9 for members, $11.50 for general audiences, $10 for seniors and $5 for students (student tickets available only at the theater box office). Purchase advance tickets online at rehobothfilm.com or at the Cinema Art Theater box office in Lewes, Wednesday-Sunday from 12:00 Noon to 5:00 PM.
