The Society's Visitor Center & Museum Shop is located at the Ryves Holt House at the corner of Second & Mulberry Streets. Stop in and see the exciting treasures that can be purchased in the oldest house still standing on its original foundation in the State of Delaware! Open Daily.
Out for a stroll in lovely historic Lewes? Do take time to meander to the end of Second Street and walk the grounds of The Lewes Historical Society's campus. While most of the historic buildings are closed for the season, you can still see and read about the various periods of Lewes history on the descriptive signs and view the different styles of architecture represented. And...the Ellegood House/Blacksmith Shop houses the current featured exhibit on Avery's Rest, a 17th century Sussex County, Del. homestead settled by Captain John and Sarah Avery which was excavated, analyzed and conserved by the Archaeological Society of Delaware between 2006 and 2010. The grounds are open to the public daily; the Avery's Rest exhibit is open Monday-Friday, 10 am-4 pm. Free.
Be sure to check the Lewes Chamber of Commerce calendar for all the exciting 2012 events hosted by The Lewes Historical Society. You won't want to miss them!
