CITY OF LEWES 2019 TULIP DIG
Free tulip bulbs, dig them up and take them home
The City of Lewes in partnership with Lewes In Bloom will have the annual tulip dig on Tuesday, April 27th from 8:00 a.m. until all gone.. We please ask that no one digs up the bulbs prior to 8:00 a.m. so that everyone have a chance to get some tulips. The public is invited to bring their shovels, spades, trowels, and bags to assist the city and Lewes In Bloom with removing the tulip bulbs and giving them a new home. Over 20,000 tulip bulbs were planted by Lewes In Bloom for the 12th Annual Tulip Celebration. Tulips go fast so ensure you are at a site by 8:00 a.m., it is first come first dig.
The following areas are included in the tulip dig:
Citizens Bank on Second Street
Gateway Garden (Island between Freeman Highway)
New Lewes Library
Mary Vessels Park
Otis Smith Park (aka Rotary Pavilion)
St. Peters Church barrels
The public is reminded that only the areas listed above are included in the tulip dig. Digging cannot occur before 8:00 a.m. or in areas not listed. Each dig location will be supervised by a Lewes In Bloom member or Parks & Recreation commissioner. Do not remove any other plants or flowers besides tulips. Please bring your own gloves, trowel, and bags.
