AFTER CLASS Opening at the Cinema Art Theater

Starting on Jan 10, the Rehoboth Beach Film Society’s Cinema Art Theater will present “After Class,” a compelling comedy-drama about an adjunct college professor who has a great deal of family issues to cope with.

New York City Professor (Justin Long) spends the week reconnecting with his family while defending his reputation over controversial behavior at his college. Meanwhile, his family is determined to make an around-the-clock effort to support their matriarch, Agatha (Lynn Cohen), when she's admitted to New York's Presbyterian Hospital and is expected to die within a few days. No one's handling this particularly well and, to make matters worse, each family member is struggling with other problems of their own. Agatha's daughter, Diane (Fran Drescher) is fully unprepared for a life without her mother, and oddly enough, she ends up finding comfort in an unexpected place...her ex-husband (Richard Schiff). This laugh-out-loud comedy is about how sometimes your crazy family can really come through, just when you need them the most. [US, 2019, English, 93 minutes, Rating: NR].

Gary Goldstein of “Los Angeles Times” says, “We've seen many versions of this kind of story before, but there's something so spot-on and involving about the film, written and directed by Daniel Schechter...that it proves surprisingly refreshing.” Joe Leydon of “Variety” remarks, “Time and again during After Class, Schechter makes pinpoint-accurate choices that are even more impressive when, after it's done, you replay the movie in your mind, and you realize what an exceptional piece of work it is.”

Screening times are 3 pm on Fri (Jan 10), 2 pm on Mon (Jan 13), 2 pm on Wed (Jan 15) and 6 pm on Thu (Jan 16). Admission is $8 for members and $11 for future members. Customers are encouraged to purchase tickets online. If seats are available, tickets can be purchased at the theater starting 30 minutes prior to each screening.
