Ahead of Time - film screening and discussion
Our Women’s History Month celebration continues with a screening and discussion of a documentary on the remarkable life of Ruth Gruber.
Ruth Gruber lived a life of “firsts.” A PhD by the age of 20, she was a foreign correspondent and photojournalist by the time she was 24. In that capacity, she witnessed Hitler’s rise in Germany in 1932, examined gulags in the Soviet Arctic in 1935, escorted Jewish refugees to the U.S. on a mission from President Franklin Roosevelt in 1944, wrote about the plight of the steamship “Exodus” and its passengers, and covered the Nuremberg war crimes trials. With her typewriter and her camera, she recorded many of the key events of the 20th century.
