Book Circle: "Our Towns"
Wednesday, October 23, 6:00 PM
Since 2013, Our Towns co-authors Deborah and James Fallows have traveled to small communities in every part of the country that have faced economic shocks, political crises or other serious hardships. Each place they went, they talked with teachers, business creators, mayors, religious leaders, students, artists and architects, librarians and others involved in shaping their community’s future.
Their 100,000-mile journey brings us stories of communities that are remaking their towns and their lives. These towns are putting big ideas into action – building creative public/private partnerships, restoring downtowns, investing in innovative schools, developing vibrant open spaces and celebrating diversity.
The library is joining with Delaware Community Foundation to inspire Delawareans to come together in conversation to explore the stories of Delaware towns, and how we are collectively building solutions to our most pressing challenges. Be a part of the conversation by joining our Book Circle. Copies of the book and discussion questions are available to borrow at the Circulation Desk.
All programs are free of charge and take place at the Library (111 Adams Avenue, Lewes, DE). We request people register for the programs, but walk-ins are welcome. For more information, people can go to our website (www.lewes.lib.de.us) or call us at 302-645-2733.
