Children's Programs at The Lewes Historical Society

April 14th, 2017 - 10:00 am to 2:00 pm
The Lewes Historical Society is offering programs geared for kids Kindergarten through 2nd grade, while school is out on April 14.

Visit the Midway Schoolhouse #178 at The Lewes Historical Society’s Shipcarpenter Street Campus at 110 Shipcarpenter Street, for children's story time, engaging learning opportunities, and history-themed crafts. Two sessions will be offered: a morning session from 10:00am-11:00am and an afternoon session from 1:00pm-2:00pm. These programs are free for children and only a suggested donation of $5 per adult.  Space is limited; call for reservations 302-645-7670.

The program on Friday, April 14th is titled, “Building our Community,” featuring the book The Three Little Pigs, by Steven Guarnaccia.  In the story, not all of the houses are going to protect the pigs from the wolf’s huffing and puffing.  Which one will?

After the story, children will have the chance to build their own miniature models made of edible materials and explore the buildings within the Society’s Campus.

Celebrating National Landscape Architecture Month, participants are invited to enjoy the park-like setting at the Campus.  Midway School #178 (circa 1898) is one of only a handful of one-room schools left in Delaware.  The Society’s educational programming continues the spirit of learning.
