Delaware in World War I presentation March 15

Join Brig. Gen. Kennard R. Wiggins, Jr. for a presentation on Delaware in World War I at the Margaret H. Rollins Community Center on March 15th.

Author-historian Brigadier General Kennard Wiggins (DE NG Ret.) will offer a broad overview of Delaware's role during the First World War. He will touch on some selected highlights from his recent book, offering illuminating stories he discovered during his research.

These include, among others, a tale of adventure by the state governor, a German pirate in Delaware waters, a notable professional baseball player, an inadvertent draft dodger, some persecuted Mennonites, and the story of Delaware's Regiment in France.

A graduate of the University of Delaware, Wiggins also holds a master’s degree from National Defense University in National Resource Strategy. He is a veteran of over 37 years of service to the Delaware Air National Guard and the United States Air Force. Wiggins currently resides in Elkton Maryland, where he serves on the Cecil County Public Library Board of Trustees as President. He is on the Board of Directors for the Delaware Military Heritage and Education Foundation where he serves as curator for the Delaware Military Museum. He is a history advisor to Wilmington University and to the Pencader Heritage Museum.
