DESTROYER OPENING AT THE CINEMA ART THEATER

Starting on March 1, the Rehoboth Beach Film Society’s Cinema Art Theater will present  ”Destroyer,” a taut crime thriller, starring Nicole Kidman as a gritty detective seeking redemption.

“Destroyer” is the moral and existential odyssey of LAPD detective Erin Bell who, as a young cop, was placed undercover with a gang in the California desert with tragic results. When the leader of that gang re-emerges many years later, she must work her way back through the remaining members and into her own history with them to finally reckon with the demons that destroyed her past. [2018, US, 121 minutes, Rated: R].

“An astonishing and haunting performance by Nicole Kidman... demonstrates she is at the peak of her skills as an actor,” writes Bruce DeMara of “The Toronto Star.” “A fiery L.A. noir,” writes Eric Kohn of “Indiewire.com.” “[Director Karyn Kusama] has delivered a movie propelled by the ceaseless energy of a woman wrestling to take control of her circumstances, no matter the physical toll.”

Screening times are 1:00 pm and 4:00 pm on Friday (Mar 1), 7:00 pm on Saturday (Mar 2), 2:00 pm on Sunday (Mar 3), 2:00 pm on Monday (Mar 4), 4:00 pm on Wednesday (Mar 6) and 7:00 pm on Thursday (Mar 7). Admission is $8 for members and $11 for future members. Customers are encouraged to purchase tickets online. If seats are available, tickets can be purchased at the theater, starting 30 minutes prior to each screening.
