An Evening at the Hook Lecture Series –Monarch Butterflies

July 13th, 2017 - 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm
An Evening at the Hook Lecture Series –Monarch Butterflies - 7:00p.m. – 8:00p.m. Mike McFarlin is a retired Army Colonel with a BS in Forestry (minor in Biology), and a passion for helping monarch butterflies.   Mike will share his knowledge and experience in working with the monarch butterfly. The monarch butterfly is one of the world’s most beloved insects.  Majestic and beautiful, the Monarch displays its distinctive orange and black markings as it glides by with outstretched wings.  It does not bite, sting, carry disease, or eat vegetable; it only exists just to delight us.  He will discuss their migration routes, the impacts humans have made on the monarch environment, where to look for eggs, how to raise them from eggs, what to feed them, releasing the developed butterfly, and much more. Light refreshments will be provided during the An Evening at the Hook Lecture Series Events beginning at 6:30 p.m.
