FACES PLACES Opening at the Cinema Art Theater

December 1st, 2017 - 4:00 pm
FACES PLACES OPENING AT THE CINEMA ART THEATER

Starting on December 1st, the Rehoboth Beach Film Society’s Cinema Art Theater will present FACES PLACES, a delightful documentary about an unusual collaboration.

89-year old Agnes Varda, one of the leading figures of the French New Wave, and acclaimed 33 year-old French photographer and muralist JR teamed up to co-direct this enchanting documentary/road movie. Kindred spirits, Varda and JR share a lifelong passion for images and how they are created, displayed and shared. Together they travel around the villages of France in JR’s photo truck meeting locals, learning their stories and producing epic-size portraits of them. The photos are prominently displayed on houses, barns, storefronts and trains revealing the humanity in their subjects, and themselves. FACES PLACES documents these heart-warming encounters as well as the unlikely, tender friendship they formed along the way. [2017, France, Runtime: 89 minutes, Rated: PG]

“Wall Street Journal” critic Joe Morgenstern states “There’s never been a film quite like this one.”  Todd Jorgenson of “Cinemalogue.com” further describes it as “Conceptually simple yet completely unique, the charming film is both intensely personal and poignantly universal.”

Screening times are 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm on Friday (Dec 1), 4:00 pm on Saturday (Dec 2), 3:00 pm on Sunday (Dec 3), 1:00 pm on Monday (Dec 4), 4:00 pm on Wednesday (Dec 6), and 7:00 pm on Thursday (Dec 7). Tickets can be purchased at the Cinema Art Theater, starting 30 minutes prior to each screening. Admission for a screening is $8 for RBFS members and $10 for future members. All screenings are held at the Cinema Art Theater located at 17701 Dartmouth Drive in Dartmouth Plaza, behind the Lewes Wawa.
