THE FANTASTICKS at Clear Space Theatre Company

October 21st, 2017 - 7:00 pm
“The unique style of this show is perfect for our space! Even better, the poetic writing and its use of classic theatre tropes creates a performance that feels classic without feeling dated. It’s a very entertaining show that also has something deeper to say. I’m ecstatic to be doing this show for the first time – it’s one of my favorite styles to perform!”       Jacob Waldron (El Gallo)

"Try to Remember" a time when this romantic charmer wasn't enchanting audiences around the world. THE FANTASTICKS is a funny and romantic musical about a boy, a girl, and their two fathers who try to keep them apart. The narrator, El Gallo, asks the audience to use their imagination and follow him into a world of moonlight and magic. The boy and the girl fall in love, grow apart and finally find their way back to each other after realizing the truth in El Gallo's words that, "without a hurt, the heart is hollow." The longest-running musical in the world and with good reason: at the heart of its breathtaking poetry and subtle theatrical sophistication is a purity and simplicity that transcends cultural barriers.

“This show has such a simple – but universal – theme. It’s all actor-driven, without flashy sets, costumes or many props. And the music is so beautiful – lyrical and complex.  I’ve acted in or directed about 50 shows over the years – but THE FANTASTICKS had till now escaped me. I’m so glad to have the opportunity to do this classic show!”  Max Dick (Bellomy)
