FATIMA Opening at the Cinema Art Theater

August 28th, 2020 - 4:00 pm

FATIMA Opening at the Cinema Art Theater

Starting on August 28, the Rehoboth Beach Film Society’s Cinema Art Theater will present “Fatima,” an uplifting drama based on historical events about the power of faith.
A 10-year-old shepherdess, Lúcia, and her two young cousins in Fátima, Portugal, report seeing visions of the Virgin Mary. Their revelations inspire believers but anger officials of both the Church and secular government, who try to force them to recant their story. As word of their prophecy spreads, tens of thousands of religious pilgrims flock to the site in hopes of witnessing a miracle. What they experience will change their lives forever. “Fatima” features the original song “Gratia Plena” (“Full of Grace”), performed by Andrea Bocelli and composed by renowned Italian composer Paolo Buonvino. [2020, Portugal, 113 min, Rated: PG-13].
Aaron Lambert of the “Denver Catholic” says, “‘This miracle and the spiritual shockwaves it caused around the world is beautifully depicted in this new film.” Pete Hammond of “deadline.com” writes, “A religious miracle In Portugal a century ago gets an inspired retelling for today.”
Screening times are 4 pm on Fri (Aug 28), 7 pm on Sat (Aug 29), 3 pm on Sun (Aug 30), 6 pm on Wed (Sep 2) and 3 pm on Thu (Sep 3). Admission is $8 for members and $11 for future members. Customers are encouraged to purchase tickets online. If seats are available, tickets can be purchased at the theater starting 30 minutes prior to each screening.
