FENCES at the Cinema Art Theater

March 10th, 2017 - 7:00 pm
FENCES at the Cinema Art Theater

Starting on March 10, the Rehoboth Beach Film Society’s Cinema Art Theater will show FENCES, a compelling drama.

Some people build fences to keep people out – and other people build fences to keep people in. Award winning actors Denzel Washington and Viola Davis deliver the “performance-driven masterpiece” of the year in the film adaptation of August Wilson’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play. Set in 1950s Pittsburgh, the film takes a passionate look at former Negro-league baseball player Troy Maxson (Washington) as he fights to provide for those he loves in a world that threatens to push him down. Washington’s directorial triumph “connects with people on a deep, emotional level” and pulses with the universal truths of love and forgiveness, despite what lies beyond your own fence. [2016, USA Runtime: 2 hr 19 min, Rated PG-13]

Richard Roeper of the “Chicago Sun-Times” praises FENCES as “a privilege to watch Washington and Davis lay it all on the line.” Viola Davis won the Academy Award® for Best Supporting Actress in this film. Both Washington and Viola Davis won Tony awards for their performances in the 2010 revival of the play.

Screening times are 1:00 pm on Friday (March 10) and Sunday (March 12), 7:00 pm on Monday (March 13), and 4:00 pm on Tuesday (March 14). Tickets can be purchased at the Cinema Art Theater, starting 30 minutes prior to each screening. Admission for a screening is $8 for RBFS members and $10 for future members. All screenings are held at the Cinema Art Theater located at 17701 Dartmouth Drive in Dartmouth Plaza, behind the Lewes Wawa.
