FIDDLE: A MIRACLE OF MIRACLES Opening at the Cinema Art Theater

Starting on October 11, the Rehoboth Beach Film Society’s Cinema Art Theater will present “Fiddler: A Miracle of Miracles,” an engaging documentary about a 55-year-old musical and Broadway phenomenon.

When "Fiddler on the Roof" opened on Broadway in 1964, it explored themes of tradition, religion and anti-Semitism against a modern backdrop of radical social change that addressed gender roles, sexuality and race. Rare archival footage and interviews with musical luminaries such as Lin-Manuel Miranda explores the legacy of this long-running, award-winning musical. [US, 2019, 92 minutes, Rating: PG-13].

G. Allen Johnson of “San Francisco Chronicle” says, “What makes it brilliant is that it demonstrates how universal this distinctly Jewish musical has become, how it has been embraced by many cultures and how it is still influential today.” Dennis Harvey of “Variety” praises, “There's considerable pleasure to be had here, particularly in the interweaving of several decades of performance clips in various staging styles and languages.”

Screening times are 4 pm and 7 pm on Fri (Oct 11), 4 pm and 7 pm on Sat (Oct 12), 3 pm on Sun (Oct 13), 2 pm on Mon (Oct 14), 4 pm and 7 pm on Wed (Oct 16), 4 pm and 7 pm on Thu (Oct 17). Admission is $8 for members and $11 for future members. Customers are encouraged to purchase tickets online. If seats are available, tickets can be purchased at the theater starting 30 minutes prior to each screening.
