The Overfalls Foundation is hosting a family program, Flag Fun, on Wednesday, June 22nd from 9:30 until noon. Open to children between 8 and 12 with an adult companion, it will explore the way vessels at sea communicate with each other using signal flags and other devices. Attendees will be able to explore the way the Lightship functioned when she was in service as well as the history of lightships and those who served aboard such vessels. Lightships and their crews played a vital role in the safety and success of marine travel and commerce over the past two centuries. The program will include a tour of the lightship and an activity designed to give children hands-on experience with the content presented.
