REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN FOR FREE ‘HOW TO START A BUSINESS’ WORKSHOP APRIL 25
Have you ever wondered whether you have what it takes to start your own business? Do you have an entrepreneurial idea but need assistance or financing to make it happen?
Registration is now open for the free “How to Start a Business” workshop, set for Wednesday, April 25, from 9:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at the Small Business Development Center (SBDC), 103 W. Pine Street in Georgetown. Although the program is free, space is limited and pre-registration is required.
“We typically have a wide range of participants,” said David Root, Director of the SBDC office in Georgetown. “In recent months we’ve had people interested in starting restaurants, cleaning businesses, handyman businesses, transportation companies and medical-related practices, to name a few,” he added.
The workshop is intended to help participants decide whether they are conceptually, physically and financially ready to start a business. Workshop topics will include:
Exploring whether “this” business is the right one to start;
Risks involved in starting a business;
Types of business formation;
Licenses, legal and accounting;
How to develop a business plan;
Creating a business timeline; and
What additional business resources are available.
“We want to meet and work with entrepreneurs before they open their doors,” Mr. Root said. “We have assisted hundreds of businesses in Delaware, and we believe we can guide start-ups in the right direction before critical missteps occur.”
