GOD’S COUNTRY Opening at the Cinema Art Theater in Lewes

Opening September 16, the Rehoboth Beach Film Society’s Cinema Art Theater presents God’s Country, a riveting thriller and modern day western about a reclusive woman who moves to a rural town.

When a grieving college professor (Thandiwe Newton) in the remote snowy mountains of the American West confronts two hunters she catches trespassing on her property, she is drawn into an escalating battle of wills with catastrophic consequences. God’s Country is based on the short story Winter Light by acclaimed author James Lee Burke and also stars Jefferson White and Tanaya Beatty of the Yellowstone series. [2022, USA, 103 min, R: Not Rated]

Christopher Cross of Tilt Magazine says, “Chock-full of everyday prejudices and an unwavering tension, Higgins film is a bleak, thoughtful, and unnerving thriller that punches up with a ferocious determination.” Brent Hankins of The Lamplight Review pens, “God's Country is a haunting and remarkably grim affair, and among the very best of this year's Sundance selections.”

Screening times are 4 pm on Fri (Sept 16), 6 pm on Sat (Sep 17) and 3:30 pm on Sun (Sept 18). Admission is $9 for members and $11.50 for general audiences. Purchase advance admission online at rehobothfilm.com or at the Cinema Art Theater box office in Lewes beginning 30 minutes prior to the screening.
