HAMPSTEAD Opening at the Cinema Art Theater

Starting on June 21, the Rehoboth Beach Film Society’s Cinema Art Theater will present “Hampstead,” a buoyant, sparklingly witty tale based on an inspiring true story of two underdogs who took on the system and showed a nation that heart is where the home is.

Though Emily (Diane Keaton) and Donald (Brendan Gleeson) live in the same idyllic London neighborhood of Hampstead, the worlds they inhabit could not be more different. She is an American widow occupying a posh apartment she can no longer afford and filling her time with charity work as she struggles to figure out a next step. He is a gruff Irish loner who lives off the land in a makeshift cabin and wants nothing more than to be left in peace. When his home is threatened by greedy real estate developers, Emily believes she has found her new cause—but gets more than she bargained for when unexpected romance blossoms. [2019, US, 103 minutes, Rated: PG-13].

“It's a pleasant film that makes fine use of its likable leads - Keaton's oddly regal klutziness matches well against Gleeson's gruff moral rectitude - and an appealing setting,” praises Bilge Ebiri of “New York Times.” Charlotte O’Sullivan of “London Evening Standard” writes, “Keaton and Gleeson are sweet together. It's also nice to see London's housing crisis being discussed.”

Screening times are 3 pm and 6 pm on Friday (June 21), 3 pm and 6 pm on Saturday (June 22), 3 pm on Sunday (June 23), 2 pm on Monday (June 24), 3 pm and 6 pm on Wednesday (June 26), 3 pm and 6 pm on Thursday (June 27). Admission is $8 for members and $11 for future members. Customers are encouraged to purchase tickets online. If seats are available, tickets can be purchased at the theater starting 30 minutes prior to each screening.
