THE HERO Opening at the Cinema Art Theater

June 30th, 2017 - 4:00 pm
THE HERO OPENING AT THE CINEMA ART THEATER

Starting on June 30th the Rehoboth Beach Film Society’s Cinema Art Theater will present THE HERO, a drama about a once successful man’s struggle in his waning days to retain relevance in his art and in his life, long after the spotlight has left him.

Lee Hayden (Sam Elliott) is an aging Western icon with a golden voice, but his best performances are decades behind him. He spends his days reliving old glories and smoking too much weed with his former-co-star-turned-dealer, Jeremy (Nick Offerman), until a surprise cancer diagnosis brings his priorities into sharp focus. He soon strikes up an exciting, contentious relationship with stand-up comic Charlotte (Laura Prepon), and he attempts to reconnect with his estranged daughter, Lucy (Krysten Ritter), all while searching for one final role to cement his legacy. [2017, USA, Runtime: 93 mins., Rated: R]

Katie-Walsh at “The Playlist” calls Elliot’s performance as an aging has-been his “best performance in a long time…possibly ever.” Come see an iconic actor (and voice) inhabit a character searching for meaning in the shadow of his impending mortality.

Screening times are 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm on Friday and Saturday (June 30 – July 1), 4:00 pm on Sunday (July 2), 7:00 pm on Monday (July 3), 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm on Tuesday, (July 4), 1:00 pm, 4:00 pm, and 7:00 pm on Wednesday (July 5) and 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm on Thursday (July 6). Tickets can be purchased at the Cinema Art Theater, starting 30 minutes prior to each screening. Admission for a screening is $8 for RBFS members and $10 for future members. All screenings are held at the Cinema Art Theater located at 17701 Dartmouth Drive in Dartmouth Plaza, behind the Lewes Wawa.
