A HIDDEN LIFE Opening at the Cinema Art Theater

Starting on Jan 24, the Rehoboth Beach Film Society’s Cinema Art Theater will present “A Hidden Life,” a drama inspired by true events from visionary writer-director Terrence Malick about the life of an unsung hero who refused to fight for the Nazis in World War ll.

When Austrian peasant farmer and devout Catholic, Franz Jägerstätter, becomes a conscientious objector he is faced with the threat of execution for treason. It is his unwavering faith and his love for his wife Fani and children that keeps his spirit alive during the darkness of war. [2019,Germany, 180 minutes, Rating: PG-13].

Sophie Monks Kaufman of “Little White Lies” remarks, “An exquisitely emotional and thorough account of an individual resisting state fascism.” John Anderson of “Wall Street Journal” says, “The director has found the ideal vehicle for his cosmic inquiries, and has created a film that is mournful, memorable and emotionally exhilarating.”

Screening times are 6 pm on Fri (Jan 24), 2 pm on Sun (Jan 26), 12:30 pm on Wed (Jan 29) and 6 pm on Thu (Jan 30). Admission is $8 for members and $11 for future members. Customers are encouraged to purchase tickets online. If seats are available, tickets can be purchased at the theater starting 30 minutes prior to each screening.
