Lewes, DE

On Saturday, September 2 at 8 am, the Historic Lewes Farmers Market rings the bell to open at George H. P. Smith Park at Dupont and Johnson Avenues. 35 vendors are at market selling fresh ginger, eggplants, tomatoes, pears, apples, plums, sweet corn, cucumbers, beets, radishes, potatoes, kale, carrots, squash, melons, beef-pork-lamb, artisanal cheeses, baked goods, local honey, freshly-cut flowers, and chicken and duck eggs.

The Market provides a Veggie Valet service to help customers carry bags and melons (when they are in season) back to their cars. This service is located right outside the HLFM Information Tent.

The Market has continued its Annual Free Bike Raffle tradition for the 2017 season. And, at 11 am this Saturday, Lilly Bachtle, Barbara Vaughan, and Mike Tyler, Chair of the Lewes Bicycle and Pedestrian Safety Committee will oversee the drawing for the winner. This year we are giving away a bike that really celebrates the summer season--a 2017 Sun Revolutions 26" single-speed classic cruiser. This peach-colored bike has a very cushy saddle, and we've added a white basket for all that fresh produce, white streamers, and a classic bugle horn to announce that you have ARRIVED at market. Come to the Market early and you can enter one more time this Saturday, before the drawing at 11 am.
Please join the Historic Lewes Farmers Market and the Rehoboth Beach Film Society on Sunday, September 10 for a special pre-Rehoboth Beach Independent Film Festival showing of Wasted! The Story of Food Waste at the Cinema Art Theater followed by a dinner inspired by the film and created by two great chefs--Bill Clifton from Henlopen City Oyster House and Blue Hen, and Hari Cameron from a(MUSE.) and grandpa(MAC). Dogfish Head Craft Brewed beer and special wines will be served.

Children’s Story Time at the Market begins at 9 am. Jennifer Noonan, the new Children’s Librarian from the Lewes Public Library, will read Seasons of Arnold’s Apple Tree by Gail Gibbons. All children and their adults are welcome to come to Children’s Story Time, a partnership program between the HLFM and the Lewes Public Library. The Story Time Tent is located near the children’s playground at the park.
The Market offers the SNAP (EBT Food Stamps) program at the Market. To help lower economic barriers to local, healthy food, the HLFM matches up to $20 each participant each week with HLFM Bonus Bucks. SNAP participants are encouraged to come to the SNAP tent at the Market to pick up the bonus $20. In addition to SNAP, the Historic Lewes Farmers Market welcomes participants in Delaware's Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program. WIC coupons can be used to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables at the Market.
The Market is open every Saturday from 8 am to noon. Ample parking can be found at the Shields Elementary School and Lewes School Parking lots (intersection of Savannah Road and Sussex Drive), a short walk to the Market.
This Wednesday, August 30, is the last Market of the season for the HLFM’s Outdoor Market at Crooked Hammock Brewery. The Market will be open from 8 am to 11 am.
