Saturday, September 30, 2017, 8 am – noon
Johnson and Dupont Avenues, Lewes, DE

On Saturday, September 30, at 8 am, the Historic Lewes Farmers Market rings the bell to open at George H. P. Smith Park at Dupont and Johnson Avenues in historic downtown Lewes. 35 vendors are at market selling fresh ginger, broccoli, cauliflower, eggplants, tomatoes, pears, apples, sweet corn, lima beans, peppers, pumpkins, cucumbers, beets, radishes, potatoes, sweet potatoes, kale, carrots, squash, beef-pork-lamb, artisanal cheeses, baked goods, local honey, freshly-cut flowers, and chicken and duck eggs.
So many new varieties of fall produce come into the Market this Saturday--everything from all types of potatoes to new lettuces to pumpkins and gourds!

This is the last day for this season that we are at George H.P. Smith Park, so please come to the Market and enjoy the park.

Next Saturday, October 7, we start the Fall Market at Shields Elementary School Parking Lot. Market hours will change to 9am to noon.

At 10 am in the Demonstration Tent, meet Gary Papp. Gary and his wife Lorraine are the chef owners of Palate restaurant in Rehoboth, a locals’ favorite destination for lunch, dinner and Lorraine's scrumptious homemade desserts. Inspired by the integrity of unsurpassed locally-sourced seafood, organic produce and meats, their seasonally inspired menu offerings are prepared fresh daily and lovingly crafted.

The Market offers the SNAP (EBT Food Stamps) program at the Market. To help lower economic barriers to local, healthy food, the HLFM matches up to $20 each participant each week with HLFM Bonus Bucks. SNAP participants are encouraged to come to the SNAP tent at the Market to pick up the bonus $20. In addition to SNAP, the Historic Lewes Farmers Market welcomes participants in Delaware's Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program. WIC coupons can be used to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables at the Market.

The Market provides a Veggie Valet service to help customers carry bags and melons (when they are in season) back to their cars. This service is located right outside the HLFM Information Tent.

The Market is open every Saturday from 8 am to noon. Ample parking can be found at the Shields Elementary School and Lewes School Parking lots (intersection of Savannah Road and Sussex Drive), a short walk to the Market. Reminder that their fall market begins at 9 am on Saturday October 7 at the Shields Elementary School parking.

More information about the Market is available at www.historiclewesfarmersmarket.org. Find them also on Facebook. Questions? [email protected] or call 302-644-1436. To receive the HLFM newsletter, please email them at [email protected] to be added to the HLFM list.
In case of inclement weather the Market moves to Shields Elementary School Parking lot.
