Historic Lewes Farmers Market

November 4th, 2017 - 9:00 am to 12:00 pm
Customer Appreciation Day at Historic Lewes Farmers Market at Shields School Saturday

This Saturday, November 4, the Historic Lewes Farmers Market celebrates Customer Appreciation Day. To help celebrate the over 40,000 customers that came to the market this year, the market volunteers will be pouring cider donated by Fifer Orchards and handing out freshly baked, gluten-free brownies donated by Good News Natural Foods to patrons of the Market. The Fall Market is located at the Richard Shields Elementary School parking lot at the corner of Savannah Road and Sussex Drive in Lewes, Delaware, and is open Saturdays from 9 am til noon through November 18 (Saturday before Thanksgiving).  Convenient parking can be found at the adjacent Lewes School parking lot.
Farmers/producers will be offering all the bounties of a fall harvest: Brussel sprouts, carrots, sweet potatoes, garlic, collard greens, peppers, cauliflower, broccoli, cabbage, beets, winter squashes, lettuces, apples, artisanal cheeses, mushrooms, oysters, cider, lamb, pork, jams and jellies, milk, yogurt, baked goods, fresh cut flowers for the table and fall wreaths for the door.

Please note that for the remainder of the 2017 season, there will be no Children's Reading Program, demonstrations, or bagels.
The book table is back at the market!  The HLFM continues to feature books, gifts, and 2017 calendars at incredible discounts for the holidays. (All sales are a donation to the HLFM.)

To help lower economic barriers to local, healthy food, the HLFM matches up to $20 each participant each week with HLFM Bonus Bucks. SNAP participants are encouraged to come to the SNAP tent at the Market to pick up the bonus $20 in tokens to use at the Market.
The Market continues to "glean" (gather together donated food from our vendors) to give to Casa San Francisco's food bank located in Milton, DE, and customers can help with this.  At the last two markets, November 11 and 18, customers can purchase something fresh from a vendor and bring it to the HLFM table at the market to donate to Casa San Francisco’s food bank.

The HLFM and its customers want to give the food pantry a little bit extra for the winter, so the Market is sponsoring a food drive on November 11 and 18. Here are the specific items that the food bank has requested: spaghetti sauce, pasta, peanut butter, jams and jellies, canned fruits/vegetables/soups, boxed cereal, powdered or shelf stable milk, rice, and beans. Please honor the HLFM’s mission and the health needs of folks who use the food bank by providing healthy foods. These items may also be brought to the HLFM Table at the Market
Consistent with its mission, the Board of Directors of the HLFM is committed to supporting farmers and emerging farmers who grow local fruits, vegetables and produce a “real” farmers market.
