This Saturday, May 11, the Historic Lewes Farmers Market opens at 8 am at George H.P. Smith Park (Johnson and DuPont Avenues) with lots of potted plants and flowers to help celebrate moms on their special day. In addition to those flowers and plants, the 35 vendors will be bringing juicy strawberries, freshly cut asparagus, lettuces and greens including mini-romaines, baby kale, Bok Choi, arugula, Swiss chard, spinach, salad and stir fry mixes, and Tatsoi. Customers will also find a great selection of eggs, milk, butter, grass-fed lamb, pork, beef, chicken, mushrooms, honey, herbs, and more.(For those looking for lamb at Market, please try the excellent lamb at new vendor Grass Works Meat Farm. Springfield Farm is not at Market this year.)

The HLFM will continue its partnership with the Lewes Public Library. This year, Children’s Story Time will begin on June 1 at 9 am.

At 10 am, Executive Chef/Owner of Harvest Tide Steakhouse Restaurant, Danio Somoza-Angel will demo. Harvest Tide is the only steakhouse in downtown Lewes. Not only do they have delicious steaks, but great salads, sides, and appetizers, as well as a very popular happy hour!. Chef has extensive training in French, American and Asian cuisine.

The Market continues its SNAP (EBT Food Stamps) program. To help lower economic barriers to local, healthy food, the HLFM matches up to $20 each participant each week with HLFM Bonus Bucks. SNAP participants are encouraged to come to the SNAP tent at the Market to pick up the bonus $20 in tokens to use at the Market. WIC and SFMNP coupons will also be accepted at the market beginning in June.

The Market is open every Saturday from 8 am to noon. Ample parking can be found at the Shields Elementary School and Lewes School Parking lots (intersection of Savannah Road and Sussex Drive), a short walk to the Market

In case of inclement weather, the Market moves to Shields Elementary School Parking lot.

The HLFM will help customers carry bags back to the school parking lots. This service is located at the HLFM Information Tent.
