JOIN THE HISTORIC LEWES FARMERS MARKET

WE'RE OPEN RAIN OR SHINE
THIS SATURDAY MARKET HAS MOVED TO
SHIELDS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PARKING LOT
(Savannah Road and Sussex Drive)

Meet the Farmers from Twin Post and Elysium Farms -- Demos at 10 am

As the market heads into fall there’s lots of seasonal produce coming into market including figs, lettuces, arugula, fresh ginger, apples, and more. There’s still peaches, watermelons, hot peppers, red peppers, lima beans, sweet corn, and more. There’s grass-fed beef, lamb and pork, plus eggs, milk, yogurt, cheeses, jams, honey, soaps, cut-flowers and herbs.

Then, at 10:00 am, in our special Meet the Farmer demo, Eileen Dykes from Twin Post Farm and Bob Mattie from Elysium Farm will talk about their farms and the ethical treatment of farm animals. This Bacon and Eggs demonstration will conclude with quiche bites made with eggs from Twin Post and bacon from Elysium Farm prepared by Old World Breads.

The Market continues its SNAP (EBT Food Stamps) program. To help lower economic barriers to local, healthy food, the HLFM matches up to $20 each participant each week with HLFM Bonus Bucks. SNAP participants are encouraged to come to the SNAP tent at the Market to pick up the bonus $20 in tokens to use at the Market.  In addition to SNAP, the Historic Lewes Farmers Market welcomes participants in Delaware's Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program. WIC coupons can be used to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables at the Market. Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP) coupons are also welcome.

The Market is open every Saturday from 8 am to noon. There’s lots of parking at the Shields Elementary School and Lewes School Parking lots, just off the corner of Savannah Road and Sussex Drive and a short walk to the Market. At the Saturday market, a Veggie Valet service is provided to help customers carry bags back to their cars. This service is located right outside the HLFM Information Tent.

Customers who want to know what is happening at the Market each Saturday should subscribe to the HLFM newsletter sent to customers on Thursdays. Newsletter is free. To be included, customers may send their email address to [email protected].

Consistent with its mission, the HLFM is committed to supporting farmers who grow local fruits and vegetables -- a “real” farmers market that is producer-only.
