It’s our last Saturday at George H.P. Smith Park this season (we start the Fall Market at Shields Elementary School Parking lot at Savannah Road and Sussex Drive on October 6, 9 am to 12 pm). New for fall, and at the market this Saturday—Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, sweet potatoes, apple cider, apple cider donuts, apples, pears, figs, fresh ginger, garlic, broccoli, arugula, kale, green beans, radishes, mushrooms, and more. There’s also grass-fed rib eye steak, lamb sausage, pork sausage, yogurt, cheese, eggs, milk, jams, fresh cut flowers and more.

 

One of the most accomplished chefs in Delaware, Hari Cameron, demonstrates a unique fall meal at 10 am made with market ingredients. Chef Cameron’s restaurants are a(Muse) and grandpa  mac.

 

The Market continues its SNAP (EBT Food Stamps) program. To help lower economic barriers to local, healthy food, the HLFM matches up to $20 each participant each week with HLFM Bonus Bucks. SNAP participants are encouraged to come to the SNAP tent at the Market to pick up the bonus $20 in tokens to use at the Market.  In addition to SNAP, the Historic Lewes Farmers Market welcomes participants in Delaware's Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program. WIC coupons can be used to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables at the Market. Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP) coupons are also welcome.

 

The Market is open this Saturday from 8 am to noon. There’s lots of parking at the Shields Elementary School and Lewes School Parking lots, just off the corner of Savannah Road and Sussex Drive and a short walk to the Market. At the Saturday market, a Veggie Valet service is provided to help customers carry bags back to their cars. This service is located right outside the HLFM Information Tent.
