The Historic Lewes Farmers Market Moves and Changes to Fall Hours
Saturday, October 5 at Shields Elementary School Parking Lot

This Saturday, October 5, the Historic Lewes Farmers Market begins its fall market hours--9am to noon and moves for the rest of the fall season to the Richard Shields Elementary School parking lot just off the corner of Savannah Road and Sussex Drive in Lewes, Delaware. so that the area the Market occupies at Smith Park for the summer can be reseeded.

The Market continues its fall season at Shields through November 23 (Saturday before Thanksgiving). Your favorite market vendors plus an old favorite, Nancy’s Café, will be there offering all the bounties of fall harvest: carrots, peppers, lettuces, kales, sweet potatoes, broccoli, cauliflower, winter squashes (including pumpkins), fruits, cider, mushrooms, chicken,  pork, oysters, freshly laid eggs, breads, jams and jellies, pastries, milk, yogurt, macaroons, and beautiful flowers for the table.

It should be a beautiful fall day, and so there’s a very special demo at the market this Saturday. At 10 am in the Demo Tent, Chef Hari Cameron will make fresh pasta. Chef Hari attended The Restaurant School at Walnut Hill College in Philadelphia. In 2012, he opened his first solo restaurant a(MUSE.) in Rehoboth Beach. Three years later, he launched casual, pasta-focused grandpa (MAC). For his progressive, Mid-Atlantic cuisine at a(MUSE.), Cameron earned national attention, including James Beard nominations for "Rising Star Chef" and "Best Chef: Mid-Atlantic." Not to be missed.

The Market continues its SNAP (EBT Food Stamps) program. To help lower economic barriers to local, healthy food, the HLFM matches up to $20 each participant each week with HLFM Bonus Bucks. SNAP participants are encouraged to come to the SNAP tent at the Market to pick up the bonus $20 in tokens to use at the Market.  In addition to SNAP, the Historic Lewes Farmers Market welcomes participants in Delaware's Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program. WIC coupons can be used to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables at the Market. Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP) coupons are also welcome.

The Market is open this Saturday from 9 am to noon. There’s lots of parking at the Lewes School Parking lot, just off the corner of Savannah Road and Sussex Drive, directly across from the Market.

Customers who want to know what is happening at the Market each Saturday should subscribe to the HLFM newsletter sent to customers on Thursdays. Newsletter is free. To be included, customers may send their email address to [email protected].

Consistent with its mission, the HLFM is committed to supporting farmers who grow local fruits and vegetables -- a “real” farmers market that is producer only.
