Historic Lewes Farmers Market
Last Market Day of the Season
Saturday, November 21, 9 am – noon

This Saturday, November 21, is the last day of the Historic Lewes Farmers Market for the season. It is also the last Saturday to purchase yams, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, mushrooms, pies, and all the fixins’ for Thanksgiving. The Fall Market is located at the Richard Shields Elementary School parking lot at the corner of Savannah Road and Sussex Drive in Lewes, Delaware, and this last market is open from 9 am til noon.  The Market thanks all of its customers, farmers/producers, volunteers, and supporters for their help during a very challenging year. The Market plans to open the 2021 Market on May 1 at George H.P. Smith Park.

At this Saturday’s market, farmers/producers will be offering the fall harvest— Brussels sprouts, carrots, sweet potatoes, garlic, kale, beets, collard greens, lettuces, spinach, arugula, cauliflower, broccoli, cabbage, beets, radishes, winter squashes, turnips, lettuces, apples, mushrooms, peppers, freshly-laid eggs, oysters in the shell, fish, cider, kombucha, chicken, beef, jams and jellies, honey, soups, baked goods, fresh cut flowers for the table, and Christmas wreaths for the door!  Click here to see at complete list of vendors for this week.

At the Market, Beebe Healthcare will be offering a FREE flu clinic on Saturday for those 18 years of age or older who wish to be vaccinated.

The market will conduct its final food drive of the year to benefit the food pantries of Casa San Francisco in Milton and Epworth United Methodist Church in Rehoboth. Customers are asked to bring non-perishable items to the Market, and to also purchase fresh food at the Market to donate to these two organizations who feed those in our community who need a little help.

The food pantries request certain non-perishables including spaghetti sauce, pasta, peanut butter, jams and jellies, canned fruits/vegetables/soups, boxed cereal, powdered or shelf stable milk, rice, and beans. Please honor the HLFM's mission and the health needs of folk who use the food bank by providing healthy foods.

Customers and friends should bring items to the HLFM tables at both the entrance and exit of the Market. Thanks to all who brought items last week, and the market hopes for even more as the need is so great.

At the end of market hours, the produce and other foods are delivered to Casa San Francisco and Epworth United Methodist. It’s a challenging time for many, and this is a great way to get nutritious local food to more community members. Market organizers thank customers for their generosity.

The Market continues its SNAP (EBT Food Stamps) program. To help lower economic barriers to local, healthy food, the HLFM matches up to $20 each participant each week with HLFM Bonus Bucks. SNAP participants are encouraged to come to the SNAP tent at the Market to pick up the bonus $20 in tokens to use at the Market.

Customers who want to know what is happening at the Market over the winter and at each Saturday market during the season should subscribe to the HLFM newsletter sent to customers on Thursdays. The HLFM is looking at different ways to continue to help deliver fresh food to those in need during the winter, and updates will be in the free HLFM newsletter. To be included, customers may send their email address to [email protected].

Consistent with its mission, the HLFM is committed to supporting farmers who grow local fruits, vegetables, meat, and fish -- a “real” farmers market that is producer-only.
