Historic Lewes Farmers Market
Every Saturday, May 1-November 20, 2021
George H.P. Smith Park, Corner of Dupont & Johnson Avenues
8 am-noon

This Saturday, the Historic Lewes Farmers Market is happy to partner with another great Lewes non-profit for a demo. At 10 am in the demo tents, butterflies take center stage. Warren Golde, founder and horticulturist of award-winning Lewes in Bloom (LIB), will be presenting a program about creating a butterfly garden and show examples of many of the flowers. He will be assisted by LIB member Julie Callahan who will discuss host plants for butterflies. Julie and LIB member John Roecker will explain the life cycle of butterflies with a demonstration of their developmental stages. They will discuss the serious population problems butterflies are facing today and what Lewes in Bloom is doing locally to create butterfly awareness. Cindy DeEmedio, LIB Membership Chair, will describe the benefits of being a Lewes in Bloom member. As a finale to the program, they will have a live release of Painted Lady and Monarch Butterflies.
