Award-Winning Author of The Art of Cooking with Lavender at the Market
Saturday, June 10, 2017, 8 am – noon
Johnson and Dupont Avenues
Lewes, DE

On Saturday, June 10 at 8 am, the Historic Lewes Farmers Market will open to another beautiful day in the Park with 35 vendors offering the best of early summer fruits and vegetables, lettuces, baked goods, freshly laid eggs, lamb, pork and beef and fresh cut flowers.

At 10 am, Linda Baggett, an award-winning cookbook author, will be in the demonstration tent.  Nancy has demonstrated her recipes on dozens of regional and national shows including “Good Morning America,” and NPR’s “All Things Considered.” Nancy says that since she discovered culinary lavender, it’s become her all-time favorite ingredient.  She will have copies of The Art of Cooking with Lavender that includes her 80 best savory and sweet lavender recipes.

Children’s Story Time at the Market begins at 9 am. Hope Ellsworth will read  If You Plant A Seed by Kadir Nelson. This beautifully illustrated book shows the process of planting and growing seeds and best of all demonstrates how a seed of kindness can bear sweet fruit.  Story Time is for ages 3 to 8, but children of all ages are welcome and encouraged to attend with their parents. Children’s Story Time is a partnership program between the HLFM and the Lewes Public Library. The Story Time Tent is located near the children’s playground at the park.
.
The Market continues its SNAP (EBT Food Stamps) program. To help lower economic barriers to local, healthy food, the HLFM matches up to $20 each participant each week with HLFM Bonus Bucks. SNAP participants are encouraged to come to the SNAP tent at the Market to pick up the bonus $20 in tokens to use at the Market. WIC will also be accepted at the market when coupons become available.

The Market provides a Veggie Valet service to help customers carry bags and melons (when they are in season) back to their cars. This service is located right outside the HLFM Information Tent.

In case of inclement weather the Market moves to Shields Elementary School Parking lot.
