JANE Opening at the Cinema Art Theater

November 14th, 2017 - 4:00 pm
JANE Opening at the Cinema Art Theater

Starting on November 14th the Rehoboth Beach Film Society’s Cinema Art Theater will present JANE, a documentary about Jane Goodall’s groundbreaking research on chimpanzees.

Drawing from over 100 hours of never-before-seen footage that has been tucked away in the National Geographic archives for over 50 years, award-winning director Brett Morgen tells the story of JANE, a woman whose chimpanzee research challenged the male-dominated scientific consensus of her time and revolutionized our understanding of the natural world. Set to a rich orchestral score from legendary composer Philip Glass, the film offers an unprecedented, intimate portrait of Jane Goodall — a trailblazer who defied the odds to become one of the world’s most admired conservationists. [2017, US, Runtime: 90 minutes, Rated: PG].

“A close-up, extraordinary look at Jane Goodall’s pioneering work with chimpanzees in 1960s Tanzania”, writes Carla Mayer in “The San Francisco Chronicle”. David Rooney of “The Hollywood Reporter” calls JANE, “a nature film that benefits greatly from being seen on the big screen. Its epic elements of adventure, romance, spiritual connection and lifelong dedication to a cause possess a sweep equal to any narrative feature.”

Screening times are 4:00 pm on Tuesday (Nov.14), 1:00 pm and 4:00 pm on Wednesday, (Nov.15), 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm Thursday (Nov. 16), 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm on Friday (Nov. 17), 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm on Saturday (Nov.18), 3:00 pm on Sunday (Nov.19), 4:00 pm on Monday (Nov. 20), 1:00 pm and 4pm on Wednesday (Nov. 22) and 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm on Thursday Nov. 23).
