JOURNEYS IN ART HISTORY “EASTER IN ART” Opening at the Cinema Art Theater

The Rehoboth Beach Film Society is pleased to bring back the Journeys in Art History (EXHIBITION ON SCREEN) film series. The focus of the series is to introduce the works of history’s greatest painters and to provide opportunities to view blockbuster art exhibitions from galleries worldwide.

The fourth and final presentation in the series is the remarkable Exhibition on Screen film Easter in Art. It will be screened on Mon, April 11 (2 pm) and Tue Apr 19 (6 pm).

The story of Christ’s death and resurrection has dominated western culture for the past 2000 years. It is perhaps the most significant historical event of all time, as recounted by the gospels and, equally, as depicted by the greatest artists in history.

From the triumphant to the savage, the ethereal to the tactile, some of western civilization’s greatest artworks focus on this pivotal moment. This beautifully crafted film explores the Easter story as depicted in art, from the time of the early Christians to the present day. Shot on location in Jerusalem, United States and throughout Europe, the film explores the different ways artists have depicted the Easter story through the ages and thus depicts the history of us all. [2019, US, IL, UK, 85 minutes, Not Rated].

Admission is $9 for members and $11 for future members. Admission can be purchased online at www.rehobothfilm.com or by calling 302-645-9095. Available seats will be sold at the door 30 minutes before starting time.
