Journeys in Art History presents LEONARDO: THE WORKS at the Cinema Art Theater

February 4th, 2020 - 1:30 pm

Journeys in Art History is a film series which introduces the works of history’s greatest painters and provides opportunities to view blockbuster art exhibitions from galleries worldwide. The series runs January – April, and typically features a new film each month with two screenings.  Visit www.rehobothfilm.com for more information.

The second presentation in the series is the remarkable Exhibition on Screen film Leonardo: The Works. It will be screened on Tue Feb 4 (1:30 pm) and Tue Feb 18 (6 pm).

Leonardo da Vinci is acclaimed as the world’s favorite artist. Many TV shows and feature films have showcased this extraordinary genius but often not examined closely enough is the most crucial element of all: his art. Leonardo’s peerless paintings and drawings are the focus of Leonardo: The Works, as EXHIBITION ON SCREEN presents every single attributed painting, in Ultra HD quality, never seen before on the big screen. Key works include The Mona Lisa, The Last Supper, Lady with an Ermine, Ginevra de’ Benci, Madonna Litta, Virgin of the Rocks, and more than a dozen others.

This film looks afresh at Leonardo’s life – his inventiveness, his sculptural skills, his military foresight and his ability to navigate the treacherous politics of the day – through the prism of his art. To be released on the 500th anniversary of his death, this is the definitive film about Leonardo: the first to truly tell the whole story. [2019, UK, 102 minutes, Not Rated].

Admission is $9 for members and $11 for future members. Tickets can be purchased online at rehobothfilm.com or by calling 302-645-9095. Available seats will be sold at the door 30 minutes before starting time.
