JULIUS CAESAR OPENING AS PART OF NATIONAL THEATRE LIVE SERIES AT CINEMA ART THEATER

The Rehoboth Beach Film Society announces the next play in the exciting series of National Theatre Live screenings. National Theatre Live is a groundbreaking project that presents the best of British theater live from the London stage on film to cinemas across the UK and around the world.

Caesar returns in triumph to Rome and the people pour out of their homes to celebrate. Alarmed by the autocrat’s popularity, the educated élite conspire to bring him down. After his assassination, civil war erupts on the streets of the capital.

Nicholas Hytner’s production of JULIUS CAESAR will thrust the audience into the street party that greets Caesar’s return, the congress that witnesses his murder, the rally that assembles for his funeral, and the chaos that explodes in its wake.

Ben Whishaw (THE DANISH GIRL, SKYFALL, HAMLET) and Michelle Fairley (FORTITUDE, GAME OF THRONES) play Brutus and Cassius, David Calder (THE LOST CITY OF Z) plays Caesar and David Morrissey (THE MISSING, HANGMEN, THE WALKING DEAD) is Mark Antony. Filming takes place at The Bridge Theatre, London. [2018, UK, Runtime: 3 hours, Rated: R].

“This is an electrifying production that works on the senses as well as the mind to deliver a stark warning about the potency of populism”, writes Sarah Hemming of “The Financial Times”. “An urgent interpretation of the play,” writes Paul Taylor of “The Independent”, “strongly recommended”.

Screenings will be 12:30 pm on Saturday, April 14th, 12:30 pm on Monday, April 16th and 6:00 pm on Tuesday, April 17th at the Cinema Art Theater, 17701 Dartmouth Drive in Dartmouth Plaza (behind the Lewes Wawa). Admission for National Theatre Live is $18 for RBFS members, $20 general admission and $15 for ages 16 and under. Online reservations (www.rehobothfilm.com) are encouraged and may be made with MasterCard or VISA.
