The Lewes Fire Dept. Auxiliary has partnered with local restaurants to kick off Fire Prevention Month with a fundraising promotion aptly named Thirst Extinguisher Weekend. On October 2 and 3, patrons who order signature drinks from participating restaurants will have a portion of the proceeds donated to the Lewes Fire Dept.
Participating businesses include: Bethany Blues Lewes, $2 for every Mr. Jimmy’s Rickhouse Rye sold; Harbour Waterfront Dining on Canal Square, TBA; Sydney’s Restaurant and Lounge in Paynters Mill, $20% of all sales of The Oxidizer; Matt’s Fish Camp Lewes, 50% of all Apple Cider Crushes sold; Crust and Craft, 50% of all Sussex County Crushes sold; The Hideout Arcade Bar and Grille, 50% of all Orange Crushes sold; Beach Time Distilling, 20% of all sales of Fire Storm.
Some of these establishments will also be participating in a Thirst Extinguisher Throw Down and will have their Fire Prevention themed cocktails judged by the Cape Gazette Foodie Team. Drinks will be judged on the name’s relevance to the Fire Prevention Theme, the presentation, the aroma, the taste and the originality. The winner will have the honor of displaying the Golden Fire Extinguisher trophy on their bar.
