Lewes Tulip Celebration Schedule of Events

Saturday, April 8

9 a.m. -3 p.m. Lewes in Bloom sale of plants, garden merchandise and garden-themed craft items; 
10 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.  Zwaanendael Museum exhibit including Tulip arrangements by Sussex Gardeners; Dutch Delft blue pottery; Indoor childrens’ tulip craft project; Outdoor  Dutch games in Zwaanendael Park
10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Peninsula Gallery’s (520 East Savannah Road) floral exhibition, “Spring into Summer,” supporting Lewes in Bloom’s Garden for All Ages project on the grounds of the new Lewes Library. Exhibit ends April 28. . Exhibition images at www.peninsula-gallery.com
10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Lewes Historical Society’s (LHS) Zwaanendael Club Museum Store at 302 Savannah Road is hosting “A Taste of Lewes’ Dutch Past.” Free samples and historic chocolate-making demonstration given by a team of LHS volunteer, living-history interpreters in period costumes. Enjoy a “Dutch taste” with Old World Breads Bakery selling their heritage-baked products in the museum store.  Blue and White Dutch Style Ceramics and other high end collectibles are available for sale.
10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Zwaanendael Women’s Club fundraiser in Zwaanendael Park - taking orders for 6” potted geraniums that will be available for pick up May 5th. The project benefits their scholarships and donations to other local non-profits.
11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Members of the Cape Artists Plein Air painting in Zwaanendael Park (weather permitting) 
11 a.m. - 2 p.m. Photography Contest Exhibit at Zwaanendael Park tent - Popular vote ballots available in the tent (Alternative locations in case of weather – Zwaanendael Museum and Fisher-Martin House)

11 a.m - 3 p.m. Fulton Bank table in Zwaanendael Park with bank promotional items as giveaways
11 a.m. - 4 p.m.  Spring Flowers Quilt Exhibit by Mare’s Bears Quilt Shop at 528 East Savannah Road in lobby of Beacon Motel 
11 a.m. - 3 p.m. Flower arranging - informal demonstrations at Flowers by Mayumi at 128 Second Street. Stop by the shop as their designers create beautiful floral arrangements.
11:15 a.m. & 12:30 p.m. Tulip Trolley Tours depart from bus stop on Market Street & Second Street.  Reservations required - 302-645-8073. Purchase tickets ($10) at Visitor Center in Zwaanendael Park 
1 - 4 p.m. The Lewes Historical Society’s Cannonball House Maritime Museum at 118 Front Street is open. Admission is FREE but donations are accepted.
2 p.m. – Awards Presentations – Photography Contest Award winners next to tent in Zwaanendael Park

The Tulip Celebration’s new complementary event, TWO-LIPS Culinary Week, is taking place April 6 - 13. Pick up a brochure listing the participating restaurants at the Lewes Chamber of Commerce, 120 Kings Highway, in Zwaanendael Park and at participating restaurants. Every time you order one of the TWO-LIPS specials listed on the brochure, you’ll fill out an entry to be entered into the Grand Prize Raffle drawing for a two-night stay at Dogfish Inn and other gift certificates. Sample as many specials as you want or keep going back for the same special. Either way, the more specials you order and eat, you’ll  enhance your chances of winning the grand prize !
