LOVE, GILDA opening at the Cinema Art Theater

LOVE, GILDA OPENING AT THE CINEMA ART THEATER

Starting on September 22, the Rehoboth Beach Film Society’s Cinema Art Theater will present LOVE, GILDA, an intimate documentary that charts the meteoric rise and untimely death of a comedic superstar.

LOVE, GILDA opens a unique window into the honest and whimsical world of beloved performer Gilda Radner, whose greatest role was sharing her story. Working with the Radner estate, director Lisa D'Apolito unearthed a collection of diaries and personal audio and videotapes documenting her childhood, her comedy career, her relationships and ultimately, her struggles with cancer. These never-before-seen-or-heard footage and journal entries form the narrative spine of the documentary, allowing Gilda to tell her own story–through laughter and sometimes tears. [2018, US, Runtime: 86 minutes, Rated: Not Rated].

“LOVE, GILDA is a touching reminder of an iridescent star who shined brightly but for far too short a time,” writes Brandon Katz of “The New York Observer.” Owen Gleiberman of “Variety.com” calls the film, “[an] exuberant and moving documentary portrait…that captures the fascinating evolution and awesome range of Radner’s talent.”

Screening times are 4:00 pm on Saturday (Sep 22), 4:00 pm on Sunday (Sep 23), 1:00 pm on Monday (Sep 24), 7:00 pm on Tuesday (Sep 25), 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm on Wednesday (Sep 26), and 4:00 pm on Thursday (Sep 27). Admission for CAT: THIS WEEK films is $8 for members and $11 for future members. Customers are encouraged to purchase tickets online. If seats are available, tickets can be purchased at the theater, starting 30 minutes prior to each screening.
