MARRIAGE STORY Opening at the Cinema Art Theater

Starting on Nov 29, the Rehoboth Beach Film Society’s Cinema Art Theater will present “Marriage Story,” a witty drama that offers an incisive and compassionate look at a marriage coming apart and a family staying together.

Follow spouses Charlie (Adam Driver) and Nicole (Scarlett Johansson) as they navigate the complex legal and emotional aftermath of their separation. After their split, aspiring Hollywood actress Nicole moves to LA with the couple’s son, forcing Brooklyn-based stage director Charlie to relocate part-time. The all-star cast includes Laura Dern, Merritt Wever, Julie Hagerty, Ray Liota, Alan Alda and Wallace Shawn. [USA, 2019, in English, 136 minutes, Rating: R].

CJ Johnson of “Film Mafia” says, “Noah Baumbach's masterpiece, a tragicomedy of human relationships that gets everything right...every scene, and practically every moment, is simultaneously deeply sad and very funny. That's not just skilled filmmaking, it's a kind of alchemy.” Roe McDermott of “Hot Press” raves, “Exquisite, scorching and utterly humane.”

Screening times are 4 pm on Fri (Nov 29), 7:30 pm on Sat (Nov 30), 3:45 pm on Sun (Dec 1), 1 pm and 4 pm on Wed (Dec 4) and 7 pm on Thu (Dec 5). Admission is $8 for members and $11 for future members. Customers are encouraged to purchase tickets online. If seats are available, tickets can be purchased at the theater starting 30 minutes prior to each screening.
