NON-FICTION Opening at the Cinema Art Theater

NON-FICTION Opening at the Cinema Art Theater

Starting on May 31, the Rehoboth Beach Film Society’s Cinema Art Theater will present the charmingly tangled romantic drama “Non-Fiction.” Juliette Binoche and Guillame Canet reunite with acclaimed director Olivier Assayas for this wry, slyly seductive tale of love, lies, and literature.

Set amidst the bohemian intelligentsia of the Parisian publishing world, “Non-Fiction” traces the romantic and emotional fallout that results when a controversial writer begins blurring the line between fact and fiction, using his real-life love affairs—including a passionate fling with an actress who happens to be married to his editor—as fodder for his explosive new novel. Balancing dry wit with keen observations on the tensions between art, commerce, and technology, “Non-Fiction” is a buoyant, breezy delight from a master director. [2019, France, in French with English subtitles, 106 minutes, Rated: R].

Ann Hornaday of “The Washington Post” recommends the film, “For audiences who love nothing better than to immerse themselves in an idealized version of high-minded bohemia at its most tastefully nonchalant, ‘Non-Fiction’ is pure bliss.” Peter Travers of “RollingStone.com” adds, “So dig in as an expert cast puts a scintillating spin on every verbal volley. ‘Non-Fiction’ is a bonbon spiked with delicious wit and malice.”

Screening times are 4 pm and 7 pm on Friday (May 31), 4 pm and 7 pm on Saturday (June 1), 4 pm on Sunday (June 2), 2 pm on Monday (June 3), 4 pm and 7 pm on Wednesday (June 5), 4 pm and 7 pm on Thursday (June 6). Admission is $8 for members and $11 for future members. Customers are encouraged to purchase tickets online. If seats are available, tickets can be purchased at the theater starting 30 minutes prior to each screening.
