Only in Theaters – Remembering the Art House Opening at the Cinema Art Theater in Lewes
The Rehoboth Beach Film Society’s Cinema Art Theater presents Only in Theaters, an intimate documentary about a famous theater group that faced unprecedented challenges in a world of mega studio conglomerates and in-home video streaming, and now a global pandemic. The feature revisits the role an Art House plays in the community, a gathering place to share the art of cinema while supporting smaller Indie filmmakers and producers in the era of appointment viewing.
Laemmle Theatres, the beloved 84-year-old arthouse cinema chain in Los Angeles, is facing seismic change and downward pressure. Yet the family behind this multigenerational business – whose sole mission has been to support the art of film – is determined to see it survive. The film is further enhanced with appearances from critics, Edward Goldman, Joel Rubin plus Leonard Maltin, Mark Ulano and more. [2022, US, 94 min, Rating: Not Rated]

Screening time are 3 pm on Fri (Dec 2), 5 pm on Sat (Dec 3) and 3 pm on Wed (Dec 7). Admission is $20 for members, $25 for general audiences, $22 for Seniors (65 + and $10 for students.
