RBFS’s Cinema Art Theater presents HUMAN FLOW

December 15th, 2017 - 4:00 pm
Starting on December 15th the Rehoboth Beach Film Society’s Cinema Art Theater will present HUMAN FLOW, an epic film journey led by the internationally renowned artist Ai Weiwei (subject of the documentary AI WEIWEI: NEVER SORRY, screened by the Film Society in 2013 as part of the Cinema and the Arts series).

HUMAN FLOW gives breathtaking visual expression to the massive human migration currently taking place across the world. The documentary elucidates both the staggering scale of the refugee crisis and its profoundly personal human impact. Captured over the course of an eventful year in 23 countries, the film follows a chain of urgent human stories that stretches across the globe. HUMAN FLOW comes at a crucial time when tolerance, compassion, and trust are needed more than ever. This visceral work of cinema is a testament to the unassailable human spirit and poses one of the questions that will define this century: Will our global society emerge from fear, isolation, and self-interest and choose a path of openness, freedom, and respect for humanity? [2017, Runtime: 140 minutes, Germany, Rated: PG-13].

David Ehrlich of “Indiewire.com” calls HUMAN FLOW, “the most necessary and comprehensive documentary to date about our planet’s current refugee crisis.” Matt Fagerholm of “RogerEbert.com” says that, “the majority of scenes work on the senses like pure visual poetry.” HUMAN FLOW is a can’t-miss documentary that gives a human face to a humanitarian crisis the world has to work together to solve.

Screening times are 4:00 pm on Friday (Dec 15), 7:00 pm on Saturday (Dec 16), 3:00 pm on Sunday (Dec 17), 4:00 PM on Wednesday (Dec 20), and 7:00 pm on Thursday (Dec 21). Tickets can be purchased at the Cinema Art Theater, starting 30 minutes prior to each screening. Admission for a screening is $8 for RBFS members and $10 for future members. All screenings are held at the Cinema Art Theater located at 17701 Dartmouth Drive in Dartmouth Plaza, behind the Lewes Wawa.
