RBFS presents Leonardo: from the National Gallery, London

The Rehoboth Beach Film Society is pleased to bring back for the second straight year the Journeys in Art History film series. The series began in January with an encore of a beloved film from last year and continues with three brand new films each month through April. The focus of the series is to introduce the works of history’s greatest painters and to provide opportunities to view blockbuster art exhibitions from galleries worldwide.

The third film in the series, the remarkable Exhibition on Screen film LEONARDO: FROM THE NATIONAL GALLERY, LONDON, will be screened on Tuesday, March 6 at 1:30 PM and March 27 at 1:30 pm. All screenings take place at the Cinema Art Theater, 17701 Dartmouth Drive, Dartmouth Plaza (behind the Lewes Wawa).

A once-in-a-lifetime event at London’s National Gallery assembled the largest ever collection of Leonardo’s surviving paintings for a unique exhibition, ‘Leonardo da Vinci: Painter at the Court of Milan.’ Given exclusive access to the opening night of the exhibition, the film captures the excitement of the occasion and provides a fascinating exploration of Leonardo’s great works. Art historian and broadcaster Tim Marlow offers his insight into the great masterpieces and invites the opinions of the curators, restorers and other specially invited guests. Interwoven is an insightful biography filmed at the locations of Leonardo’s life as well as exclusive behind-the-scenes access to the preparations of what was undoubtedly a once-only exhibition which also included the first newly attributed Leonardo in over a century. [2013, UK, 90 minutes, Not Rated].

Admission is $9 for members and $10 for future members. Tickets can be purchased online at www.rehobothfilm.com or by calling 302-645-9095. Available seats will be sold at the door 30 minutes before starting time.
