RBFS presents Showcase of Academy Award Nominated Best Animated Short Films

The Rehoboth Beach Film Society will present a showcase of this year’s Academy® Award nominees for Best Animated Short Film on Friday, February 10, 7:00 pm at  Cinema Art Theater, 17701 Dartmouth Drive, #2, Dartmouth Plaza (behind the Lewes Wawa). Watch one of the most entertaining categories of film and cast your vote for the Oscar® winner.
 
The final five Animated Short Film nominees are:
 
Borrowed Time
A weathered sheriff returns to the remains of an accident he has spent a lifetime trying to forget. Faced with his mistake once again, he must find the strength to carry on with his quest for redemption.

Pearl
Set inside their home, a beloved 1970s hatchback, Pearl follows a girl and her father as they crisscross the country chasing their dreams. It's an emotional story about the gifts we hand down and about finding grace in the unlikeliest of places. [2016, USA, Runtime: 6 minutes, Not Rated]
 
Piper
Piper is a baby sandpiper who timidly ventures into the scary world for the first time to forage for food. This Pixar short is about the difficulties of growing up and the choices parents make to teach their children independence. [2016, USA, Runtime: 6 minutes, Not Rated].
 
Blind Vaysha
Young Vaysha is unlike other girls her age. Her left eye sees only the past while her right eye sees only the future. Blinded by what was and tormented by what will be, this metaphorical tale of wisdom and beauty reminds us of the importance of living in the present.

Pear Cider and Cigarettes
This is acclaimed graphic novelist Robert Valley’s brutally honest story of a turbulent friendship with a charismatic but self-destructive friend and his wild ride to get bring him home. This film may not appropriate for children. [2016, Canada & UK, Runtime: 35 minutes, Not Rated]
 
Additional shorts to be included are The Head Vanishes [2016, Canada & France, Runtime: 9 minutes], Asteria [2016, France, Runtime: 5 minutes], and Happy End [2016, Czech Republic, Runtime: 6 minutes].
 
Total Program Runtime: 86 minutes.
 
Admission for this event is $8 for Rehoboth Beach Film Society members (current membership card must be presented), and $10 for future members.
