Rehoboth Beach Film Society’s Cinema Art Theater presents THE CAKEMAKER

September 28th, 2018 - 4:00 pm
THE CAKEMAKER OPENING AT THE CINEMA ART THEATER

Starting on September 28, the Rehoboth Beach Film Society’s Cinema Art Theater will present THE CAKEMAKER, a tender drama about loss and the secrets we keep from the ones we love the most.

Thomas, a young German baker, is having an affair with Oren, an Israeli who frequently visits Berlin for business. When Oren dies in a car crash in Israel, Thomas travels to Jerusalem seeking answers regarding his death. Assuming a secret identity, Thomas infiltrates the life of Anat, his lover's newly widowed wife. He finds himself involved in Anat’s life in a way far beyond his anticipation, and to protect the truth he will stretch his lie to a point of no return. [2018, Germany and Israel, Runtime: 105 minutes, Rated: Not Rated].

Jeanette Catsoulis of “The New York Times” calls the film, “a master class in exquisite restraint.” “This provocative, unexpected and finally very moving work is as unusual a love story as you are likely to find,” writes Kenneth Turan of “The Los Angeles Times.”

Screening times are 4:00 pm on Friday (Sept 28), 7:00 pm on Saturday (Sept 29), 4:00 pm on Sunday (Sept 30), 1:00 pm on Monday (Oct 1), 4:00 pm on Wednesday (Oct 3), 7:00 pm on Thursday (Oct 4).
