HIT THE ROAD presented by the Cinema Art Theater
Opening May 27, the Rehoboth Beach Film Society’s Cinema Art Theater presents Hit the Road, a charming comedy-drama that follows a chaotic, tender family along the unexpected twists and turns of a road trip. With ten nominations and eight wins from U.S. and International film festivals, Hit the Road stars Pantea Panahiha, Hasan Majuni and Rayan Sarlak.
A middle-aged couple and their two sons embark on an existential voyage across the Iranian countryside. Over the course of their journey, they bond over memories of the past while grappling with fears of the unknown. Whether fussing over their sick dog or the mystery surrounding the quiet older brother, it all adds to the unspoken tensions that arise surrounding the real purpose for their journey. [2021, Iran, 93 min, Rated: NR, in Persian with English subtitles]
Robert Abele of the Los Angeles Times says, “To be a passenger alongside these nervous voyagers, as they clash, tease and cherish each other on the way to this strange and terrible fork in their lives, is to be a very fortunate moviegoer indeed.” Rachel Wagner of the rachelreviews.net exclaims, “It's as close to a masterpiece as I've seen in a long time.”
