SPOILER ALERT Opening at the Cinema Art Theater in Lewes
Opening December 30, the Rehoboth Beach Film Society’s Cinema Art Theater presents Spoiler Alert, a tender and inspiring romantic comedy about a couple’s relationship that is transformed when they receive upsetting news.
Michael Showalter’s Spoiler Alert captures the way a single event can utterly alter your life. When Michael (Jim Parsons) discovers that his lover of 14 years, Kit Cowan (Ben Aldridge) has a terminal illness, everything changes. Based on Michael Ausiello’s acclaimed memoir, the story moves beyond misfortune towards finding a new purpose in life. In the light of such devastating news, Michael, along with Kit’s parents (Sally Field and Bill Irwin), reclaims what really matters in life. "At its heart, Spoiler Alert is a simple love story," exclaims Aldridge, one that celebrates "the normal, and the love, and the joy of who we are." [2022, US, 112 min, Rating: PG-13]
Odie Henderson of the Boston Globe remarks, “Parsons and Aldridge have fantastic chemistry together.” TT Stern-Enzi of WXIX-TV pens, “It sounds like a really heavy, sad story, and it is, but there's so much fun and joy... it's about life and the messiness of love.”
