THE WORLD BEFORE YOUR FEET OPENING AT THE CINEMA ART THEATER

Lace up your most comfortable shoes and tell your friends and family you’re off to explore the streets of New York. Starting on December 28, the Rehoboth Beach Film Society’s Cinema Art Theater will present “The World Before Your Feet,” an intriguing documentary that takes you on a one-of-a-kind walking tour of the Big Apple, led by a man whose curiosity about the city he calls home is as endless as the blocks he walks.

There are 8,000 miles of sidewalks, paths and roads in New York City, and for the past six years Matt Green has been walking them all–every street, every block, every pedestrian overpass, park lane and hiking trail. A journey that stretches from the heart of Harlem to the marshes of Staten Island, Matt’s walk is a pursuit of anything that catches his eye—be it a national landmark or a humble manhole cover.

Over time Matt has amassed an encyclopedia of surprising New York trivia and underground history, informed by his own research and conversations with the amused but supportive New Yorkers he encounters along the way. “The World Before Your Feet” is an authentic tribute to New York and the freedom to be found in the simple act of taking a walk outside. [2018, US, 95 minutes, Not Rated].

Rex Reed of “Observer.com” writes that the film, “allows us to see things, learn things and see a side of life right under our noses we never knew existed. It’s an eye-opener—and darn good entertainment, too.”

Screening times are 3:00 pm and 6:00 pm on Friday (Dec 28), 3:00 pm and 6:00 pm on Saturday (Dec 29), 2:00 pm on Sunday (Dec 30), 2:00 pm on Monday (Dec 31), 2:00 pm on Wednesday (Jan 2) and 3:00 pm and 6:00 pm Thursday (Jan 3).
