A HAUNTING IN VENICE Opening at the Cinema Art Theater in Lewes
Opening November 17, the Rehoboth Beach Film Society’s Cinema Art Theater presents A Haunting in Venice, an intriguing mystery thriller produced and directed by Kenneth Branagh who stars in the film along with Tina Fey, Jamie Dorman and Michelle Yeoh.
A Haunting in Venice is set in eerie, post-World War II Venice on All Hallows’ Eve and features the return of the celebrated sleuth, Hercule Poirot. Now retired and living in self-imposed exile in the world’s most glamorous city, Poirot reluctantly attends a séance at a decaying, haunted palazzo. When one of the guests is murdered, the detective is thrust into a sinister world of shadows and secrets. [2023, US 103 min, Rating: PG-13]
Amy Nicholson of FilmWeek remarks, “There is a specter of trauma that hangs over the whole movie, turning it from a good classic detective story into something more ghostly and spiritual.”
Screening times are 2 pm on Fri (Nov 17) and 8 pm on Wed (Nov 22). Admission is $9 for members, $11.50 for general audiences and $5 for students (student tickets available only at the theater box office).
